New Delhi: Communications and Information Technology Minister A.Raja on Friday (July 4, 2008) said the guidelines for 3G (third generation) and WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) mobile services will be announced soon.
“We are consulting with the Union Finance Ministry, which has a say in the policy-making body, Telecom Commission. Broad guidelines for 3G and WiMAX are ready and its final version would be out soon after inputs from the Finance Ministry. It will then be forwarded to the Telecom Commission,” Mr.Raja told reporters here.
Mr.Raja said the much-awaited launch of 3G and WiMAX services, which would take the mobile services to the next level with faster data transfer and downloads, would be launched by the end of this year or early next year.
